We collect only what we need to give you farm advice.
Who we are: AsaaseYaa is run by ModularPath Systems, Ghana. We decide how your information is used and are responsible for it.
What we collect for everyone: your name; your phone number if you save your account; your region, district and town; your farm size, crops, planting dates, soil type and watering method; the jobs you tick off; what you post in Farmers and who your friends are; market listings you create; and the notifications we send you. We do not collect your exact location unless you choose to share it.
Photo checks: the crop photos you take for a photo check, and the answer we give, are kept so you can see them again and so our agronomists can improve the advice.
If you pay: your payments go through Paystack. We keep what you bought, the amount, the date and Paystack's reference. We never see or keep your card or Mobile Money PIN.
If you rent equipment or rent it out: the Ghana Card check sends your card number, a photo of your card and a selfie to Dojah, which checks them with the National Identification Authority. We keep only the result, the name on the card, the date and the last four digits of the card number, not the photos. We also keep the bookings, the signed agreements (with your typed name, the time and your phone number), the pick-up and return checks with their photos, short videos and the place where they were done, any damage claim, your ratings, and the Mobile Money number we pay you on.
What others can see: your first name, district, posts, answers and harvest photos in Farmers; your listing, town and phone number on a market listing; your streak, to friends you accepted. In a rental, the other side sees your name, that you are ID-checked, your rental record, and your phone number once the booking is paid; the check records and agreement are shared between the two of you. Your Mobile Money payout number and Ghana Card details are never shown to other users.
How we use it: to plan your daily jobs, reminders and advice; to show your posts and listings; to take and release payments; to check identities and settle rental disputes; to stop fraud; and, only as anonymous totals, to improve the advice for each region.
Where it is kept: on Supabase servers in EU data centres, encrypted in transit. Rental check photos and videos are private: only the two people in the rental and AsaaseYaa staff can open them.
Services we use: Supabase (accounts, database and files), Paystack (payments and payouts), Dojah (Ghana Card checks), Anthropic (reads the crop photos you send for a photo check; it does not receive your name or phone number), Open-Meteo (weather; no personal data is sent), Google Places (town suggestions while you type your town), Sentry (crash reports, without your name). We do not use advertising networks and we do not sell your information.
Keeping and deleting: your data is kept while your account is active. Delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete my account; your data is then removed, except records we must keep: payments and payouts for as long as tax law requires, and rental agreements, checks and claims for six years after the rental in case of a legal claim. Those records keep your name only where the law needs it.
Your rights: you can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). Contact us (details below). If you are not happy with our answer you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
For questions or requests about your data, contact us (details below).
Soil data
The soil type you choose is used only to tailor watering and feeding advice for your farm.
We do not share individual soil records with government agencies, companies or researchers without your permission. Anonymous regional totals (for example, "most farms in Bono report loamy soil") may be used to improve the advice.
A soil type you choose in the app is not a laboratory soil test. We recommend a soil test every three seasons through CSIR or your district agriculture office.
